ABOUT
ME
My background
As a professor with a Ph.D. in Sociology, I spent two decades studying health, human behavior, and family relationships.
When I became a parent, I started sifting through the science on all things parenting and child development to learn what makes families thrive. The biggest things I learned are that if you want a thriving society, you have to start in the home, and also that many of the things that families struggle with are not unique to themselves-- they are the product of our cultural and social programming.
As sociologist C. Wright Mills wrote, "Consider marriage. Inside a marriage a man and a woman may experience personal troubles, but when the divorce rate during the first four years of marriage is 250 out of every 1,000 attempts, this is an indication of a structural issue having to do with the institutions of marriage and the family and other institutions that bear upon them." In other words, you are not alone in your relationship challenges and there are ways to address them!

Now, I use my knowledge of the science of relationships to help you in your parenting and relationship journeys!
I have been a Coach for BootCamp for New Moms since 2023, helping hundreds of moms-to-be learn about the evidence around new parenthood so that they can go into parenthood with self-confidence.
My approach also integrates my experience in mindfulness meditation. I am a Teacher on Insight Timer, a free meditation app, where I have numerous free mindfulness meditations designed for parents and partners.
My coaching philosophy
As a coach, I take an evidence-based, personalized, and non-judgmental (and unbiased) approach to give you the tools to be the parent and/or partner you want to be. My empathetic lens as a sociologist focuses on the big picture, and recognizes that in the majority of relationships it is not that one or the other partner is "at fault," but rather that our cultural and social context often influences our behaviors in ways that do not always reflect the needs of the relationship.
I combine my knowledge and experience in mindfulness, nature, and relationships to bring you tailored experiences designed to help your family connect, restore, and grow.
And for those who join in-person, we do it through fun, outdoor experiences!
